James L.
Lockwood, Jr.
President.
President since 1979, Mr. Lockwood has been involved in the daily
operations of Lockwood Brothers for over 25 years. He i s a designer of sophisticated test
and construction equipment including a 240 ton, 49' jacking tower and an apparatus for the
installation of tunnel ceiling panels in the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel Addition. Mr.
Lockwood has a Masters of Business Administration degree from Harvard University and a
Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
William D. Koch
Project Manager, Crane, Rigging and Construction Projects.
An employee since 1953 as a crane operator, Mr. Koch has performed
estimating and project management duties for more than 15 years. He is responsible for the
estimating, planning and management of multi-million dollar construction and rigging
projects. Presently, Mr. Koch is Lockwood's primary representative to such companies as
CEBAF-SURA, Ball Metal, Smithfield Packing, Newport News Shipyard, Canon, Howmet, Busch
Entertainment and many others.
Paul Schifferli
Project Manager, Heavy Hauling/Rigging Projects.
Mr. Schifferli has 30 years experience in the heavy rigging and transportation industry.
He has extensive experience in the planning and execution of transportation, installation
and relocation projects in the chemical, production, nuclear and printing industries.
Daniel K. Clark
Project Manager, Heavy Hauling Projects.
Mr. Clark has been with Lockwood Brothers for over 10 years. He has planned and managed
numerous detailed rigging, heavy hauling, tug/barge and railroad transportation projects.
His area of expertise is in intermodal transportation projects (rail-truck-barge) of
oversized and overweight cargo. Mr. Clark has an Associate of Arts degree from Wesley
college and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Delaware State
University.
John N. Schaffner, Jr.
Project Manager, Marine Projects.
Mr. Schaffner has been with Lockwood Brothers for over 10 years. He
has planned and managed numerous marine oriented projects covering the Atlantic East
Coast, Great Lakes, Gulf of Mexico, Mississippi River system and the Caribben Sea. His
area of expertise is in maintaining relationships with other suppliers within the marine
industry. Mr. Schaffner has Bachelor of Arts degrees in Economics and History from
Vanderbilt University and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of
Virginia.
Will L. Phillips
Project Manager, Crane Projects.
Mr. Phillips has been with Lockwood Brothers for over 10 years. He has planned and managed
numerous crane projects in and around the Hampton Roads area. Prior to becoming a project
manager, Mr. Phillips worked a number of years with Lockwood Brothers' ironworkers in the
field. With this experience, he brings a "hands-on" practical approach to his
projects. Mr. Phillips has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Randolph-Macon College. |
Robert L. Phillips, Sr.
Vice President, Heavy Hauling/Rigging.
Mr. Phillips has been with Lockwood Brothers for nearly 40 years. He has
been directly responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of heavy hauling
projects of pieces weighing up to 800 tons. Because of his extensive experience with
complex intermodal transportation moves, Mr. Phillips has been selected to act as a
consultant to the U.S. Department of Energy for handling radioactive equipment being
transported from U.S. nuclear reactor power plants. Mr. Phillips has a Bachelor of Science
degree in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina.
Alan H. Sheeler
Project Manager, Transportation Projects.
Mr. Sheeler has 21 years of project management experience in the heavy haul
transportation and construction industries. His area of expertise ranges from
orchestrating intermodal transportation moves of over-dimensional equipment to the
planning and directing of major relocations of numerous manufacturing and testing
facilities for both governmental agencies and private industries. Mr. Sheeler has degrees
in mathematics, physics, and science from Shippenburg University (PA) and the University
of Delaware.
Grover R. Nash, Jr.
Ironworker Foreman, Special
Projects Supervisor.
Mr. Nash has more than 24 years of experience as an ironworker and has worked with
Lockwood Brothers for more than 15 years. He has supervised major projects for customers
such as Westinghouse, General Electric, Asea Brown Boveri, Chem Nuclear, Liebherr Crane
Corporation and Ball Metal Company.
Tom McBride
Special Projects.
Mr. McBride has over 20 years of experience with Lockwood Brothers in supervising plant
renovation, facilities relocation and new construction projects. During a 12-year contract
with Anheuser-Busch Williamsburg Brewery, Mr. McBride acted as our on-site supervisor
coordinating building additions and supervising routine maintenance itmes including
welding stainless steel conveyor lines, platforms and evaporators. In addition to this
work, Mr. McBride is also called to supervise a number of unique projects, including the
transportation and erection of a 100-ton container crane for the Port of Wilmington, North
Carolina, the renovation of the coal car dump stations for the old C&O Railroad, and
the erection of the world's fastest roller coasters for Busch Gardens.
Harry Fetter
Ironworker Foreman.
Mr. Fetter has more than 24 years of experience as an ironworker for
Lockwood Brothers. He has supervised major projects for customers such as Toyota, NASA,
and Newport News Shipyard and the U.S. Government.
Randy M. Jones
General Foreman.
Mr. Jones has worked for Lockwood Brothers for 11 years as a rigger,
foreman and general foreman. Working on such special projects as removing steam
generators from the Hope Creek Generating Plant in Salem, NJ and moving them to Barnwell,
SC for Chem Nuclear. He is associated with the barge moves from PMT, NNMT, in the
loading and off loading of cargo for G.E. from the ACL ships. Mr. Jones has also
assisted in the delivery of fuel casks for the Surrey Nuclear Plant, Surrey, VA and the
loading and transporting of 260-ton turbines for Alstom Power.
